A2 CofC and GVC renewal guidance

The A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) and the General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) are each valid for five years. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has published guidance on what remote pilots need to do to renew, and Iprosurv can take you through the process from start to finish.

The theory test can only be taken once. If it is not passed, the full course has to be completed again, so we give every pilot the support they need to pass first time.

How Iprosurv helps you renew

  • An online course with an optional revision module to refresh your knowledge and cover recent updates.
  • Learning confirmation tests so you know you are ready for the final theory exam.
  • If you already feel confident, you can simply book your online theory test.

A2 CofC renewal requirements

Remote pilots renewing their A2 CofC declare their competence and provide:

  • Proof of identity
  • Current A2 CofC certificate
  • Valid Flyer ID
  • Flight logs showing completion of the practical self-learning building blocks within the last three months

GVC renewal requirements

Remote pilots renewing their GVC provide:

  • Proof of identity, such as a passport or driving licence
  • Current GVC certificate
  • Valid Flyer ID
  • Flight logs showing at least two hours of flight activity in the three months before applying

The practical flight assessment may not need to be retaken where recent flying can be demonstrated through your logs. We will confirm exactly what applies to you when you book.
