A2 CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY

Drone A2 Certicicate of Competency Training

The A2 Certificate of Competency (A2CofC) is the new drone qualification, that allows drone pilots to operate in the open category and complete a quick, cost effective course to be able to operate drones recreationally or commercially without the cost outlay of the GVC course.

The course is made up of 3 modules, with an online thoery exam consisting of 40 questions with a 75% pass mark.

There is no practical flight exam with the A2 C of C however students must sign a declaration of 2 hours practical flight self training.

Once succssesfully completed you are able to fly in the Open A2 Category.

GENERAL VLOS CERTIFICATE

Iprosurv General Visual Certificate Drone Training

The GVC or General Visual Line of Sight Certificate is required for any drone pilot wishing to apply for an operational authorisation from the CAA to operate within the Specific Category.

The course is made of 9 modules, with an online theory exam consisting of 60 questions with a 75% pass mark.

There is also an in person practical flight exam where you will be tested on varous flight excercises inteneded to show your confidence and safe operation of the drone.

The practical flight exam can be taken at any of our flight testing centres around the country.

Once complete you will be issued with your GVC pass certificate.

With every successful GVC course we offer a FREE A2 CofC.

A2 CofC/GVC Renewal Course

Nearly five years after the introduction of the A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) and the General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC), drone operators are now able to book their renewals for January 1st, 2025.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released detailed guidance on the requirements and processes to renew these certifications, providing clarity for operators navigating this next stage.

This update is crucial for drone operators to ensure they remain compliant and maintain their operational permissions under the GVC and A2 CofC frameworks. On the following pages, you can read about the renewal process, pricing, and how to book your place with Iprosurv for your renewal.

The CAA guidance highlights that the theory test can only be taken once. If an operator fails, they must complete the full relevant course again. With this in mind, Iprosurv is committed to giving drone operators the maximum support to achieve a pass.
