Inspiring Future Flight: How Iprosurv Is Embedding Drone Technology in Education This July

Igniting Curiosity and Capability Through Drone Education

At Iprosurv, we’re driven by more than innovation in drone technology – we’re on a mission to empower the next generation to take flight. This July, our education team delivered a series of impactful training and engagement initiatives across South Yorkshire, inspiring both educators and learners to embrace drone technology as part of their future.

Here’s how we’ve been making a difference:

📍 Barnsley College: CPD That Connects Technology to Real-World Learning

We proudly welcomed tutors from Barnsley College for a dedicated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. These sessions were tailored to educators from departments such as:

  • Construction and Engineering

  • E-sports and Public Services

Over four dynamic training sessions, we introduced participants to the real-world applications of drones in their fields – from surveying to safety monitoring and creative digital capture.

Using our STEM drone balls, the sessions also included live flying exercises that combined fun, interactivity, and skill-building. The result? Tutors walked away inspired and ready to bring drone-based learning into their classrooms with confidence.

📍 North Notts College: “Train the Tutor” – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) A2 CofC Accreditation

As part of our ongoing relationship with the RNN Group, we hosted a Train the Tutor cohort from North Notts College at our training centre based at Dearne Valley College. This initiative focused on preparing educators to achieve their CAA A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) – an essential qualification for drone operations in the UK.

✅ Every tutor passed the certification
🚀 Each left with the confidence and practical know-how to teach drone skills in their own subject areas

It was a brilliant display of how drone technology can unify diverse curricula, from environmental sciences to digital media and beyond.

📍 “Drones in Education” Open Day: A Regional Showcase

On 4th July, we opened our doors to careers leads, educators, and learning leaders from across the region for a special Drones in Education Open Day.

Held at our base in Dearne Valley College, the event highlighted:

  • Current and future career pathways in drone technology

  • Industry use cases (environmental, media, logistics, and more)

  • Hands-on STEM drone ball experiences

  • Tools for curriculum enhancement and student engagement

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive – the event was praised as inspiring, informative, and incredibly accessible, with many noting its value for shaping the future of vocational and STEM education.

Looking Ahead: Drones as a Pathway to the Future

These July initiatives form part of Iprosurv’s wider commitment to drone education across the UK. Our work includes:

  • CPD sessions and workshops

  • Train-the-trainer and accredited courses

  • STEM enrichment activities for students

  • Open days and school-college collaborations

As drones continue to revolutionise industries from agriculture to architecture, we’re making sure today’s educators and learners are ready to rise with it.
